Biography
I was born in the British East Midlands and went to university in London, studying philosophy, before migrating to Australia (with a brief stint making chocolate in between). Now in my mid-forties, I am approaching half my life in the antipodes and have an accent that falls somewhere in no mans land: Australians know I am a Brit, but Brits tend to think that I’m an Australian.
I live on the NSW South Coast with my lovely wife and three wonderful kids (seventeen year old boy girl twins and a thirteen year old boy) and two cats. Our house looks out on hills, dotted with dairy cattle. It is a beautiful spot. I work in Sydney travelling two hours each way by train. This is my reading and writing time.
Currently I am employed as the Business Planning Manager for a large Government Authority, having spent the previous ten years working on a major IT project, in a variety of management roles.
A voracious reader I have always had a love of writing, but only began my first novel three or four years ago. My style is minimalist, but I hope accessible, with inspirations ranging from Hemingway to Hornby (not exactly a–z but still). My short story without a spark is to be published shortly by NightPublishing in the anthology Dancing in the Dark. I have two other shorts accepted for inclusion in an upcoming, but as yet untitled, anthology.
· I have four tattoos: the Greek words logos and gnosis; a ying-yang symbol; and a lady bird.
· In my youth I was a competitive fencer.
· I enjoy watching rugby union, which I played—badly—as a schoolboy, but am passionate about rugby league, following
the St George Illawarra Dragons.
· I drink black coffee, red wine and Irish whisky.
· I have taken to wearing my hair too long.
